BANDIPORA SEPTEMBER 05: Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal on Thursday organised a SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme to raise voter awareness among participants.
The event, held under the patronage of Principal Professor (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, aimed at creating awareness among first-time voters about the importance of their participation in the electoral process.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from both faculty and students, who engaged in insightful discussions about the role of voting in strengthening democracy.
In his address, Prof. Manzoor Ahmed, SVEEP Coordinator, provided an in-depth overview of the historical evolution of Indian democracy and elaborated on the significance of the ‘Right to Vote’ in ensuring a vibrant and functional democratic system.
He emphasized that first-time voters hold a unique responsibility in shaping the future of the nation, urging them to exercise their franchise.
