_The low turnout disappoints party leadership_
Srinagar, September 4:Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who held a kickoff rally in South Kashmir’s Doru constituency as part of the party’s campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election, failed to attract a large crowd in the rally.
Notably, the rally was part of the campaign for Congress candidate Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who is contesting the Dooru Assembly segment. Polling for this seat is scheduled for September 18.
According to eyewitnesses, the public presence was far below the expectations set by the party. The modest turnout has sparked discussions among political analysts, who suggest that this could be a reflection of the broader challenges the Congress party faces in reconnecting with the electorate in Doru constituency.
This rally marks the start of a series of Congress star campaigners seeking support for party candidates. Later, Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who are among the 40 Congress star campaigners in J&K, will also campaign for the party candidates.
