150 BASIC MOUNTAINEERING COURSE CONDUCTED BY JIM & WS

Srinagar, 18 Aug 2024. JIM & WS concluded Basic Mountaineering -150 course commencing from 25 July to 17 August 2024. A total of 88 trainees from various parts of the country participated in the course.
Participants: 88 students took part and 81 successfully completed the course 07 trainee could not complete because of medical problems and family commitments.
Curriculum: This Course was conducted in two phases, first phase of training (Snow & Ice Craft) was conducted in Thjiwas Glacier and second phase of training (Rock Craft) was conducted in the rock craft area of High Altitude Warfare School. The course covered a range of Basic Mountaineering training activities including Rope Knots Hitches & Coiling of Rope, Preparation of Bases, Anchoring & Belaying, Bouldering & Types of Holds, Principles of Climbing & Rappelling, Artificial Climbing, Zip Line & casualty evacuation, Stream Crossing, Pitch climbing & Rope fixing, Obstacles & Tent Pitching, Height gain Trekking, Lectures (Mountain Terminology, Do’s & Don’ts, Avalanche, Glacier, Map Reading etc), Snow & Ice Craft (10pt, 2pt, 3pt, 4pt, crevasse rescue, avalanche rescue etc) Competitions including Endurance, Climbing & Rappelling, Obstacles, Viva test and few mountaineering Movies where also shown to the trainees during the Course.

2. In Boys : Mr Dharmeshbhai Babubha Chauhan
Best Student: Mr. Sven Charles Murzello.
Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal JIM & WS attended the Graduation Ceremony of Basic Mountaineering Course as Chief Guest and he congratulated all the awardees and graduates for the successful completion of the Course. He also praised the Instructors and staff of JIM & WS for their hard work and for completion of this course successfully.
