District Police Kulgam arrests 03 drug peddlers; Contraband substances recovered

Kulgam, August 08: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam police have arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of police station Qaimoh established a specific checkpoint at village Khudwani and during checking two suspicious persons were intercepted. After search, officers were able to recover 06 grams of Brown sugar and 01 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substances concealed in a nylon bag. They have been identified as Zahid Mohiuddin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat resident of Gufbal, Qaimoh and Talib Gull son of Gull Mohd Shah resident of Qaimoh. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Moreover, police party of police station Devsar during patrolling at Cheyan, Adigam apprehended one person identified as Naseer Ahmad Shan son of Mohd Hussain Shan resident of Kilam moving in suspicious circumstances and recovered grinded Cannabis weighing 01 Kg and Poppy Straw weighing 600 grams like contraband substances concealed in a nylon bag.

Regarding the incidents, a case vide FIR No. 77/2024 U/S 8/15, 21 NDPS act at police station Qaimoh and a case vide FIR No. 67/2024 U/S 8/15, 20 at police station Devsar have been registered respectively and investigation have been initiated in both cases.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
