Bandipora, August 07: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman, on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat to review and finalize the arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day Celebrations-2024. The meeting was aimed to ensure meticulous planning and coordination among various departments to celebrate Independence Day 2024 with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.

The meeting discussed various aspects such as security arrangements, cultural programmes, venue preparations, PAS installation, availability of Ambulances and Fire tenders at the venue, availability of uninterrupted water and power supply and public engagement activities.

Emphasizing the importance of I-Day Celebrations, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need for a well-coordinated and successful celebration that reflects the spirit of unity and patriotism.

He called for active participation and cooperation from all departments and the public to make this event memorable.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Bandipora, Lakshay Sharma, assured robust security measures to ensure peace and order during the celebrations at all venues. He urged departments to submit the list of panchayats and other venues in advance to the police so that adequate security measures can be implemented.

The meeting was informed that parade contingents from JKP, JKAP, IRP, Home Guard, JKP Border Battalion, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC, and school children will be participating in the march past.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of planning activities to involve the local community and enhance public participation. He directed concerned officers to ensure proper coordination of transportation, medical aid, and other essential services for smooth celebrations.

He asked all the officers to coordinate and ensure completion of all their assigned responsibility with utmost sincerity for the success of the celebration.

He directed officers of PDD to ensure illuminations of buildings, bridges and prominent places of district, besides also directed EO MC to ensure cleanliness and sanitation at venue.

The meeting was attended by Sr. Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Lakshay Sharma; Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Ashraf Bhatt; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Umar Shafi Pandit; Commanding Officers from CRPF and BSF; Chief Planning Officer; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; District Officers of various departments; and other concerned.

Sub Divisional Magistrates Sumbal and Gurez participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
