Srinagar, July 20 :- The continuous dry spell and heat wave has induced a shortage of drinking water in Kashmir.

Authorities have urged the public in Kashmir to use water judiciously and avoid wastage of water.

“Due to increase in temperature in Kashmir Valley the consumption/drawls of water supply have increased considerably, which has resulted in shortage of water supply in some parts of Srinagar City especially in tail end areas. As such, general public is appealed to use the drinking water judiciously and avoid wastages/misuse of water by using it in Lawns, Kitchen-Gardens, washing of vehicles etc.” reads the appeal to general public by Executive Engineer Water Works Division Srinagar.

“The consumers using direct online boosters are appealed to stop this practice immediately for equitable distribution of water supply in their respective areas. This is an offence under Jammu & Kashmir Water Resources Regulation and Managemen Act 2010 and the department shall be forced to take action against all such offenders,” it reads.

“For any complaints/grievances regarding scarcity / shortage of water supply, genera public are requested to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room which remains functional round the clock for the service of the general public.” It states further.

“The Contact Numbers of Provincial Control Room are as under:1. 0194-2477207, 0194-2452047 (Landline Numbers) 2. 18001807027 (Toll Free Number) and 9419413914, 9419413915 (WhatsApp Numbers)

“Besides, Nodal Officers has been appointed for redressal of genuine grievances relatec to water supply who shall remain available for the convenience of general public.” It states further.
