KUPWARA, JULY 12: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of Jal Shakti Department (PHE).
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon all the concerned officers to gear up their efforts to ensure cent percent coverage of households under the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission in the district so that the people get uninterrupted water supply. She directed the officers to speed up the execution of all ongoing works and ensure completion of all projects within the stipulated timeframe.
Regarding water tanker supply, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to identify the water deficient areas in their respective Divisions and frame Action Plan for providing of water tankers to these areas so that the people do not suffer in this dry weather season. She directed them to submit Water Stress Management plan of all 3 PHE Divisions including Kupwara, Handwara and Karnah to cater the needs of water deficient areas.
Earlier, through a detailed PowerPoint presentation, it was informed that out of 157382 households in the district, 126072 have been connected with Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) so far and 31310 households are yet to be connected.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of all schemes of the PHE department including FHTC under JJM, Dug wells, Bore wells, Rapid Sand Filtration Plant, Over Head Tank, Pipe Network and Electro-Mechanical water supply schemes, division wise status of pipe availability, besides, bottle necks in implementation of Water Supply Schemes were also discussed.
While reviewing the status of Approved Water Supply Schemes, it was informed that 251 works have been tendered in all 3 PHE divisions; 235 works were allotted out of which work has been started on 230 projects and 85 projects have been completed so far.
Regarding construction of Dug wells, it was informed that 12 works were allotted in the district out of which 10 works stand completed and work is in progress on rest of the 2 wells. 31 Bore wells were also allotted out of which 25 are completed.
Regarding status of formulation/approval of DPRs & Tendering/Allotment, it was informed that 123 DPRs have been framed and approved by DPR Appraisal Committee which includes 48 of PHE Division Kupwara, 58 of PHE Division Handwara, 13 of SSD Tangdar and rest 4 pertaining to PHE Ground Water Division Srinagar.
ADDC Kupwara, SE Jal Shakti, CMO, CPO, Executive Engineers, AEEs other concerned officers attended the meeting.
