Instructs ARTO to conduct rigorous road safety awareness programs & enforce strict actions against traffic violators
KULGAM, JULY 02: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan along with SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal today chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting to deliberate on road safety measures in the district and to review implementation of road safety plan.
The meeting extensively discussed road safety action plan, Road Safety Act, road signage and traffic calming measures etc.
The DC also took a detailed report about the tasks assigned to different departments during the previous Road Safety Committee meetings.
He underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination to enhance the overall system.
During the meeting, Officers briefed the chair about the steps taken to rectify Black Spots, erect crash barriers, and install road signage.
During the meeting, active participation from committee members led to extensive discussions on various road safety matters, with strategies proposed to enhance road safety across the district.
The DC instructed the concerned for curbing traffic rule violations, and enforcing strict actions against violators. He also instructed MVD and other stakeholders to take awareness activities at large scale across the district and remove all roadside encroachments.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal; ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri; SE R&B Circle Kulgam, Executive Engineer R&B, ARTO, CEO, EOs and other committee members.
