UDHAMPUR, JUNE 29: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, chaired a District Level NCORD Committee meeting here today in the DC Office Complex.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas; DSWO Kanika Gupta; CEO Geetu Bangotra, and other officers attended the meeting.
The DC directed the stakeholder departments to intensify outreach efforts to aid the recovery of drug-affected individuals. She emphasized the need to upscale counseling, awareness, and IEC activities across the district. The DC stressed consistent efforts at multiple levels of administration and enforcement agencies to control drug abuse.
Officers of all line departments were urged to coordinate their efforts to contain drug peddling, break the supply chain and take stringent action against those involved in this illegal trade. The Principals of colleges were directed to identify students involved in such activities and to install feedback boxes in every college. Concerned departments were instructed to conduct joint frequent visits to the area and sensitize the public about the harmful effects of drugs.
The DC highlighted that collective efforts are essential to curb the drug menace and that all stakeholders must work in tandem to enhance the rehabilitation of individuals involved in drug abuse. She also sought cooperation from families, particularly parents, to help overcome the menace among the youth, which often leads to other social evils and crimes.
