RAJOURI, JUNE 06: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a pivotal meeting aimed at scrutinizing the strides made in implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan; Catch the Rain initiative within the district.
During the meeting, the DDC conducted a thorough review of the progress under the programme- JSA: CTR 2023 and directed the officers to submit plan for current financial year promptly.
ADDC, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, who is the District Nodal Officer for JSA: CTR gave a brief background of the programme and focus areas identified by Jal Jeevan Mission where the departments are required to work to achieve the objective.
The DDC underscored the urgency of intensifying efforts towards water conservation and rainwater harvesting across the district. He stressed for a proactive approach in implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, stressing the importance of meticulous planning to harness rainwater effectively and to institute robust water management practices under “Catch the Rain” initiatives.
DDC issued the directions to the officers of Jal Shakti department for rejuvenation of spring sources, geotagging of all assets, identification planning and execution of direct recharge structures under JJM.
The role of RDD & PR, Forest, Agriculture, Irrigation and Flood Control, Social Welfare, Housing & Urban Development, Education department was also discussed in detail to make the Jal Shakti Abhiyan successful in the district.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of community engagement in enhancing the success of the campaign in the district, the DDC underscored the necessity of fostering awareness and actively involving the general public to increase the momentum of the initiative.
In a bid to consolidate efforts across various departments associated to make the initiative properly implemented, the DDC instructed the stakeholders to collaborate seamlessly, channeling dedicated endeavors towards conserving and safeguarding water resources.
The DC directed all the Officers present in the meeting to submit action taken during the last FY and plan for CFY expeditiously so that a Comprehensive plan of the District is sent to higher authorities.
The meeting was attended by the ADDC, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; DFO Nowshera; SE Hydraulics, Bhram Jyoti Sharma; ACR, Mohd Jahangir Khan; ACP, Sheraz Chowhan; CAO, Sohan Singh; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; CEO Education, Mohd Mushtaq; EXEN Jal Shakti Rajouri, Ashwini Sharma; EXEN Jal Shakti Nowshera, Bipin Kumar and other concerned officers.
