KARNAH: A heart-wrenching incident has occurred in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, where a driver stands accused of killing his wife. The tragic event unfolded at their residence, where Amjid Ahmad purportedly committed the act of strangulation. In response, an FIR No. 31/2024 has been lodged under Section 302 of the IPC at Police Station Karnah. This information was confirmed by Incharge Station Jogal Kishore in a communication with our correspondent.

Authorities acted swiftly, apprehending the accused immediately, and an intensive investigation into the distressing affair is currently in progress to uncover all the details surrounding the incident.

Sobia Begum, the unfortunate victim, was a resident of Shartpalla Bagh and the mother of two minor sons. Neighbors described her as a graceful and kind-hearted woman who endured frequent abuse from her husband but never disclosed the mistreatment to others. Despite being given a transport vehicle by his in-laws to support himself financially, Amjid soon turned violent and ultimately killed her.

This grievous event has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting deep reflection and concern among the residents of North Kashmir. The community is grappling with the tragedy and the broader issues of domestic violence and the need for vigilance and support for victims.
