Two weeks have passed since the deluge that wreaked havoc on Karnah, yet the valley remains in a state of distress, with residents clamoring for immediate administrative intervention to address the mounting challenges. Despite the passage of time, the scars of the disaster are still fresh, and the need for swift action has only grown more urgent.

The aftermath of the heavy rains continues to cast a shadow over Karnah, with crucial transportation routes still in disrepair. Roads like Jada Road, Gundi Road, and Tad Road remain impassable, severely hampering access to essential services and exacerbating the isolation of affected communities. The lack of progress in restoring these lifelines has left residents feeling abandoned and neglected.

The dire condition of residential structures further compounds the residents’ woes, with many homes still bearing the brunt of the relentless weather. The plea for protective measures, such as sturdy walls and reinforcements, echoes through the valley, as families like that of Nawab Din in Nachiyan and Raja Wakar Khan and Ravess Khan in Kandi fear for their safety amidst the looming threat of collapse.

Moreover, the looming specter of landslides continues to haunt the valley, with areas like Peer Mohalla in Kandi remaining vulnerable to erosion-induced disasters. Despite the imminent danger faced by households like those of Adil Sayeed and Ishfaq Sayeed, tangible measures to mitigate the risk are yet to materialize, leaving residents in a state of perpetual apprehension.

In the face of these ongoing challenges, the residents’ plea for immediate administrative action grows more desperate by the day. Their steadfast resolve to weather the storm is matched only by their frustration at the perceived inertia of the authorities. As the rains persist and the specter of further devastation looms large, the resilience of Karnah’s residents is put to the ultimate test, underscoring the pressing need for swift and resolute intervention from the administration to alleviate their plight and restore hope to their beleaguered valley.
