Youth Services and Sports department Ganderbal organised various sports activities across the district

GANDERBAL//ZUBAIR TANTRAY//KMN// The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal is proud to announce the commencement of a Zonal Level Inter-District Football Competition for boys under 14 years at the BHSS Hariganiwan ground. This event is part of a series of diverse sports activities being conducted throughout the district to promote youth engagement and physical fitness.

The picturesque setting of the BHSS Hariganiwan ground provided a stunning backdrop for the competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from all zones of the district. In the opening match, Zone Tullamulla defeated Zone Kangan by 4-2 goals, and in the second match, Zone Ganderbal emerged victorious by defeating Zone Hariganiwan by 3-1 goals. The final match of the competition was played between Zone Ganderbal and Zone Tullamulla, in which Zone Ganderbal emerged victorious.

The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal, Mr. Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, along with other senior officials, attended the event to support and encourage the young athletes. The officer interacted with the student players and officials, highlighting the importance of youth involvement in sports as a means to foster discipline and steer clear of unethical practices. He extended his best wishes to all participants and commended the efforts of the field officials for organizing a successful event.

In conjunction with the football competition, Zone Kangan hosted an inter-school Zonal Level Kabaddi Competition for boys under 17 and under 19 years at the Zonal Office ground in Kijpara Kangan. The event attracted 130 student players from across the zone, all of whom displayed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The competition was inaugurated by the In-charge Zonal Office Kangan and other officials, with meritorious teams being awarded trophies by senior officials at the conclusion of the event.

Meanwhile, Zone Ganderbal organized a duo of inter-school Zonal Level competitions in Handball and Football for boys under 14 years. The passion and strength displayed by the students demonstrated their commitment to sports. Both events took place at GCOPE Gadoora Ganderbal, where approximately 110 student players showcased their skills. The best players selected will participate in the upcoming zonal level inter-district competitions.

Zone Hariganiwan also held intramural competitions in Kho-Kho at MS Ramwari, Volleyball at BHSS Gund, and Rope Skipping at MS Dardwooder. These events saw a large number of eager students participate, showcasing their talents and dedication to sports.

Furthermore, Zone Tullamulla organized intramural sports activities in Kabaddi at MS Kurhama, MS Larson, and MS Bunpora. The student players participated with great energy and enthusiasm, enjoying the spirit of competition and camaraderie.

The motto of YSS J&K, “Catch them Young,” reflects our commitment to nurturing the athletic potential of youth and instilling values of sportsmanship and integrity from an early age.
