Srinagar, April 16: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference Provincial President, Mohammed Khurshid Alam today conveyed profound sorrow and condolences for the tragic loss of lives in the recent boat capsizing incident at Batwara, Srinagar.

“Our hearts ache as we mourn the devastating loss of young lives in this unfortunate incident. It’s an unimaginable tragedy that has left our entire community in shock and grief,” expressed Mohammed Khurshid Alam.

Amidst the grief, Alam emphasized the importance of addressing the underlying issues contributing to such catastrophes.

He highlighted the lack of infrastructure, particularly the absence of a bridge at Batwara, as indicative of the failure of previous governments to prioritize citizen safety.

“It’s heart-wrenching to think that precious lives could have been saved if the necessary measures had been taken earlier. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time,” Alam remarked.

In addition to demanding accountability for the tragedy, Alam stressed the importance of providing support to the families of the victims. He called for financial assistance to be extended to these economically disadvantaged families to help them cope with the profound loss they have endured.
