BARAMULLA, APRIL 15: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, comprehensive election training was conducted today for the first batch of polling staff in the Baramulla district under the supervision of the District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa.

The election training was conducted at three separate venues viz. Boys’ Government Degree College Baramulla, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Baramulla and Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, where 1300 designated polling staff were imparted comprehensive training to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

During the training session, the Master Trainers extensively enlightened the officials about their respective roles and responsibilities while carrying out poll duties, emphasizing on the specific activities to be carried on the day of polling.

Furthermore, to equip the polling officers with practical skills, a demonstration on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was conducted where they were trained in operating EVMs, ensuring familiarity with the technical aspects of the voting process.

The officials were also meticulously briefed on the paramount significance of adhering to the Model Code of Conduct, underlining the critical imperative of upholding ethical and legal guidelines with unwavering dedication and consistency throughout the election period.

Meanwhile, the Deputy District Election Officer Baramulla, Abdul Rahman Bhat presided over a training session at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Baramulla where he imparted training to the participants and explained to them their critical role in upholding the democratic process, and urged them to execute their duties diligently.
