KARNAH: The government has been vocal about its efforts to connect villages with road infrastructure, but in Chamkot block of the border tehsil of Karnah, the reality is starkly different. While claims have been made about connecting twenty villages with roads, the actual situation reveals a different story. The construction of these roads has been left incomplete, leaving half-finished roads that have become a source of frustration for the residents. Travelling on these incomplete roads has become a nightmare, often forcing passengers to cover long distances on foot. Although the project aimed to benefit various settlements like Chambra, Tadiyan, and Kalas, it was abruptly halted, leaving communities without proper infrastructure.

The delay in completing the construction of the Sikh Bridge has further worsened the situation, compelling residents of Badarkot and its surrounding areas to leave their homes in search of better access to basic amenities. Similarly, other road projects, such as the one from Batlan to Kadhama, have faced setbacks due to bureaucratic hurdles, with the promised construction yet to materialize. Despite sporadic efforts by government departments like the Public Works Department and PMGSY, the plight of these villages persists.

Residents are left to rely on primitive means of transportation and endure hardships that should have been alleviated in this modern era. Local residents have urged the government to prioritize road repairs and expedite construction efforts to ease the burden on communities grappling with these challenges.
