In the late hours of last night, a devastating fire ravaged through the Mori area of Gabra in Karnah, leaving two residential houses in ruins. Mohammad Yousf, a local resident, recounted the harrowing event, noting the swift spread of the blaze and the complete destruction of the two homes, along with property valued at lakhs. The fire originated at the residence of Ghulam Nabi Khan before quickly spreading to the nearby home of Nasir Ahmed, resulting in extensive damage and leaving their families without shelter.Miraculously, there were no reports of injuries or loss of life. Despite attempts by locals to contain the inferno, there was a regrettable delay in response from the local fire stations. Consequently, there is a pressing call from the community for the establishment of fire stations in the area to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future. Locals are appealing to the DC Kupwara, SDM Karnah and Tehsildar Karnah to swiftly provide assistance to the victims.
