Instructs concerned to ensure zero tolerance against overloading, other violations

KULGAM, FEBRUARY 02: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting to deliberate on road safety measures in the district.

The meeting extensively discussed road safety action plan, Road Safety Act, road signage and traffic calming measures etc.

The DC also took a detailed report about the tasks assigned to different departments during the previous Road Safety Committee meetings.

A comprehensive list of activities related to road safety and traffic management was presented in the meeting.

The DC underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination to enhance the overall system.

Authorities were directed to rectify Black Spots, erect crash barriers, install road signage, and implement traffic regulations in letter and spirit

He emphasized on ensuring fitness certificates for vehicles, curbing traffic rule violations, and enforcing strict actions against violators.

The DC also instructed MVD and other stakeholders to take awareness activities at large scale across the district and EOs were instructed to remove all road side and footpath encroachments.

The meeting was attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri, ACR, ASP, SE R&B Circle Kulgam, CEO, Executive Engineer R&B, ARTO and other committee members.
