Bandipora Jan 19: Under Bandipora Cricket initiatives the final of 12-12 cricket tournament was today held at S. K stadium Bandipora.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ur Rehman Rather was chief Guest on the occasion while as Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, ADC Umar Shafi Pandit, Tehsildar Sheikh Tariq and SHO Bandipora were Guest of Honour.
The final was played between United Cricket Club Plan and Hakeem Cricket Club Kunan.
The final was won by United Cricket Club plan.
Raja saleem was declared as Man of the Tournament while as Adil Zahoor was declared as Man of the match.
The tournament was organised jointly by Ali’s Sports Academy and Bandipora Youth Federation under Bandipora Cricket Initiative.
The 12-12 cricket tournament held at S.K stadium witnessed participation of 48 teams from across the District Bandipora.
Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar who is also chairman of Ali’s Sports Academy said that the major goal of the “Bandipora Cricket Initiative” is to promote physical and mental health among youngsters, particularly during the winter season.
Recognising that winter typically leads to people retreating indoors and engaging in unhealthy behaviours, this project seeks to reverse that trend. Faisal added.
While emphasizing the significance of Sports Faisal Ali said that access to gymnasiums and other physical activities play an important role in guaranteeing the well-being of young people.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ur Rehman Highlighted the importance of sports for healthy life style and curbing Drug Menace.
He said sports plays an active role to keep youth away from drugs besides their physical and mental development.
In his speech Shakeel Ur Rehman urged youth to come forward and take part in different sports activities.
He also urged youth to join hands with administration in promoting sports infrastructure and eradicate drug addiction.
The organisers of the tournament expressed gratitude to the District Administration Bandipora for active role and support at all stages.
