KUPWARA, DECEMBER 23: The National Farmers Day was Saturday celebrated across Kupwara district with great enthusiasm and fervor.

 

In this connection, a series of events including Mega Kisan Mela at District Headquarter, were conducted across the district.

 

At D.C Office Kupwara, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan distributed shelter tents among shepherds who migrate to higher reaches with their flocks during summer season. DSHO Kupwara, Technical Officer Sheep Husbandry, DIO Kupwara and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

 

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kupwara organized a Vibrant and Mega Kisan Mela at District Agriculture Complex Kupwara.

 

The event proved to be a significant platform for farmers to exchange insights, learn about modern farming techniques and explore innovative agricultural practices.

 

Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir and ADDC Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion.

 

The Kisan Mela showcased a diverse array of agricultural products, machinery and technologies, providing local farmers with valuable exposure to the latest advancements in the field.

 

Agricultural experts, Chief Agriculture Officer, Gurdeep Singh; District Agriculture Officer Kupwara, Manzoor Sheikh, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, Dr Mohammad Ashraf Malik, AMO Kupwara, Mushtaq Kumar and other resource persons delivered informative sessions, covering topics ranging from sustainable farming practices to the effective utilization of government schemes and subsidies.

 

In his speech, the Vice Chairman DDC expressed his gratitude towards the Government for taking various farmer welfare initiatives like HADP for improving the livelihood of the farmer community. He expressed his satisfaction over the interest of unemployed youth in agricultural activities who were felicitated with the appreciation certificates.

 

The ADDC in his address appealed to the farmers to take active interest in various scientific agricultural techniques adopted by successful farmer entrepreneurs in different parts of the valley and across the country to increase their productivity.

 

Farmers actively participated in interactive sessions, sharing their experiences and challenges, while also seeking solutions from the experts present. The event aimed to empower farmers with practical knowledge, enabling them to enhance crop yield, adopt efficient water management techniques and embrace environmentally friendly practices.

 

Earlier, the Vice Chairman and ADDC inspected stalls installed by Agriculture and allied departments and got feedback about performance of different schemes.
