Kupwara, 8 Dec: As part of the ongoing celebrations for Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and the Police in Amrit Kal initiative, a group of 30 school and college students from District Kupwara participated in a one-day educational and awareness trip to the frontier area of the district. The primary objective of this initiative was to familiarize the students with the strategic importance of border regions and provide them with insights into the functioning of border guarding forces. The journey commenced with the flagging off of a dedicated bus from District Police Lines (DPL) Kupwara to Karnah. Upon reaching Karnah, the students visited the Border Police Station Karnah and the Border Police Post Teetwal. At the Police Station Karnah, they had an interactive session with the Station House Officer (SHO) Karnah. During this session, the SHO shared valuable information about the history, demography, and strategic significance of the Karnah border area. The engagement with the SHO aimed to broaden the students’ understanding of the challenges involved in safeguarding border regions and the overall importance of these areas. The students also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions to deepen their knowledge. The itinerary also included a visit to the Border Police Post Teetwal, where the students witnessed firsthand the operations and efforts of the border guarding forces. This practical exposure allowed them to gain a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities and challenges faced by the forces at the border. The students explored the Sharda Temple, a cultural and historical landmark in the region. As part of the visit, they had the privilege of viewing the recently installed 104 ft Tricolour, Azmat E Hind, symbolizing patriotism and national pride. This added a cultural and symbolic dimension to the educational trip. In essence, this initiative not only enriched the educational experience of the students but also played a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the community, educational institutions, and the dedicated personnel safeguarding the borders. It provided a holistic understanding of the border areas, encompassing historical, cultural, and strategic aspects, fostering a sense of pride and awareness among the participating students.
