RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 22: Director (Law & Order), Internal Security-I Division, Ministry of home Affairs, Government of India, and Central Nodal Officer (CNO) for Jal Shakti Abhiyaan (JSA)- Catch the Rain (CTR), Nishtha Tiwari, along with Scientist Central Ground water, Chandreyee De, concluded their 3-day visit to the district Ramban.

During the visit, they toured to a number of locations in the district and interacted with officers of the District Administration, students and teachers, PRIs, Pani Simitis, and common masses and got feedback about the implementation of ‘Catch the Rain’ programme under Jal Shakti Abhiyaan. They inspected GSRs, FHTCs, gravity lines, filter plants, Water Supply Schemes and other infrastructure under the Jal Jeevan Mission.besides reviewing various activities of the Implementation Support Agency (ISA).

Conducting detailed assessment of the crucial aspects of the program, the CNO reviewed implementation of the programme in the district. She reviewed the financial and physical progress achieved, so far, in the district and appreciated the efforts of the district administration and other stakeholders in effectively implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district.

CNO and Scientist CGW sensitized the locals about the need for water conservation, its judicious use, protection of water sources and rain water harvesting to make safe and sufficient water available in future. CNO asked the PRIs to plan under various developmental schemes for conservation of water and rain water harvesting. She also emphasised on wider publicity and awareness on the importance of rain water harvesting and its techniques.

The Scientist CGW also reviewed the physical progress of Jal Jeeven Mission works through virtual mode. She interacted with different beneficiaries and sensitized them about the initiative ‘Catch the Rain’ ‘Where it falls, When it falls’.

The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation, promote water harvesting and improve infrastructure for water storage, distribution and ground water recharge, she said.

She asked the concerned officers for maintenance and cleanliness of Amrit Sarvors and other water bodies. She also asked to submit detailed reports regarding water management projects and ensure Geo-tagging of all the water bodies.

Meanwhile, the central team also inspected the Jal Shakti Kendra, Ramban and asked the concerned officer to ensure proper functioning of Jal Shakti Kendra to redress timely public queries.
