District-level NCORD Committee reviews measures initiated to combat drug menace in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 21: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Saloni Rai, today presided over a crucial district-level Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee meeting here in the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.

The meeting addressed issues pertaining to the restructuring of the NCORD mechanism in the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, along with SDMs, Tehsildars, Principals of various colleges, and other officers who joined virtually.

Discussions delved into various facets of tackling drug addiction, including promotion of Nasha Mukht Panchayats, identifying hot spots, freezing and attaching property of Drug traffickers, checking victims’ accounts, establishing drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers, implementing tracking mechanisms, and curbing the cultivation of poppy and cannabis in the district.

Addressing the meeting, the DC underscored the necessity of launching a holistic awareness program targeting schools, colleges, and the youth, involving parents in the process. She sought detailed information from concerned departments on measures taken to control the drug menace. The DC asked SDMs to incorporate a tracking mechanism system while directing the ACD to conduct sensitization programs to combat menace of drug abuse in different blocks. The DC urged officials to leverage all available resources effectively to achieve the shared goal.
