Renowned  Actor and Director Mushtaq Kak Mourned in Srinagar Condolence Meeting

In a gathering the artistic community came together today in Srinagar to mourn the untimely demise of esteemed actor and director, Mushtaq Kak. The condolence meeting witnessed an outpouring of grief from Artists, Directors , producers and writers and who expressed shock at the loss.

Mushtaq Kak, formerly associated with Shri Ram Centre, New Delhi as the artistic director, left an indelible mark on the world of theater and cinema. Recognized for his exceptional talent, he received the Best Director award for productions including “Andha Yug,” “Malika,” and “Pratibimb.” His plays, “Maha Brahmin” and “Alladad,” were acclaimed as the best plays for the years 1999 and 2000, respectively.

Having directed over 100 plays encompassing a diverse range of works, Kak’s repertoire included adaptations of Saadat Hasan Manto’s short stories, Anton Chekhov’s “Cheery ka Bagicha,” Vijay Tendulkar’s “Ghansi Ram Kotwal,” and other iconic works by celebrated writers.

Mushtaq Kak’s influence extended beyond the stage, as he made notable appearances in Hindi and Hollywood films such as “Hijack,” “Sikandar,” “Amal,” “Shikara,” “Vishwaroopam,” “Romeo Akbar Walter,” “Kesari,” “The Family Man,” and “Dishoom.”

The condolence meeting was attended by a host of distinguished individuals from various fields, including Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Bala, Shafeeque Qureshi, Gulzar Ganie, Mir Sarwar, Gulzar Bhat, Hussain Khan, Altaf Hussain, Manzoor Ishbari, Hassan Javid, Shahid Lateef
and many others who shared their condolences and memories of the late artist.

Mushtaq Kak’s legacy as a versatile artist and director will be remembered fondly by the artistic community and the audiences he touched through his impactful performances.

All present in the condolence meeting extend their deepest sympathies to Mushtaq Kak’s family and friends during this difficult time.
