SKIMS Celebrates World Diabetes Day

Srinagar Nov. 14 , 2023: The Department of Endocrinology SKIMS celebrated World Diabetes Day today at SKIMS auditorium on this year’s theme ” Empowering Global Health” aimed to create awareness about diabetes management.
During the event besides panel discussion presentations on various topics were given by experts including Diabetes- Magnitude of Problem, Diabetes and Kidney Health, Diabetes and Heart, Diabetes and Nerves.
Director SKIMS Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul who was Chief guest on the occasion complimented the department for organizing the event to educate the people. He emphasized on sensitising and educating the masses about the disease to prevent complications. He added that the world is grappling with various noncommunicable diseases and as such creating awareness and educating people is very significant.
Dean Medical Faculty & HOD Endocrinology Dr. Bashir A. Laway in his address said that the administration is working out to engage diabetic educators, start fellowship programs and take many initiatives at SKIMS to expand the diabetic management services.
Professor Shariq R Masoodi organising Chairman & Prof. Riyaz A. Misgar Organising Secretary of the event highlighted the importance of the world diabetes day and thanked all the guests and participants for attending the event.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Dr. Farooq A. Jan was also present on the occasion and emphasised on various techniques including education about the disease, lifestyle modifications for management of the disease.
