GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 11: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with SAKHI – a one-stop support initiative today organised an awareness program at Boys High School, Gagangeer, Sonmarg.

The event aimed to educate the 170 participants, both boys and girls, about the services provided at the One-Stop Centre (OSC) for distressed women, along with introducing the recently inaugurated SAKHI club.

The Centre Administrator at OSC Ganderbal, Malik Shugufta Nabi (Advocate) sensitized the attendees about the OSC’s support for distressed women and introduced them to the newly established SAKHI club.

District Coordinator for DHEW, Sabita enlightened the participants about various schemes available for girls and women under the Department of Social Welfare. The audience showed a positive response, actively engaging throughout the session.

In a parallel initiative, the OSC team conducted awareness programs at several Aanganwadi centres in the village of Lar, focusing on introducing the Sakhi Club and fostering collaboration with other departments. Notably, this event led to a substantial accomplishment as 70 volunteers joined the SAKHI club, emphasizing its significant voluntary contributions to society.

The B2V-5 awareness program and the SAKHI Club activities showcased a proactive approach in educating the community about available support systems and opportunities for women and girls in Ganderbal. The positive response received from participants underscores the effectiveness and importance of such initiatives in empowering and supporting the community.
