Govt PG College Bhaderwah organises Workshop on Domestic Violence

BHADERWAH, NOVEMBER 09: In a significant step towards raising awareness and addressing the critical issue of domestic violence, Government (PG) Degree College Bhaderwah organized a comprehensive workshop on this pressing matter here on the College Campus. The event aimed to educate students and the broader community about domestic violence and providing resources to combat it. The workshop drew participants from diverse backgrounds, including students, faculty, and community members. It featured the experts who shared her insights on domestic violence, its impact on individuals and families, and strategies to prevent and address it. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Saba, and the gathering was formally welcomed by Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal Head of Post-Graduate Department of Chemistry.

The keynote speaker for the event was Adv. Kiran Thakur, a renowned advocate for domestic violence survivors. She shared powerful stories and statistics, highlighting the prevalence and severity of domestic violence in society. Their compelling talk emphasized the need for awareness and action to combat this issue effectively. Throughout the program, the workshop included various sessions and panel discussions. Experts from local shelters and support organizations discussed the signs of domestic violence, the cycle of abuse, and available resources for victims. Participants learned about legal aspects, protection orders, and the role of law enforcement in addressing domestic violence. The workshop also addressed the significance of bystander intervention and the role that community members can play in preventing domestic violence. Participants were encouraged to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and reporting instances of abuse. The expert presented the topic in detail by showing the slides in the form of ppt.

In addition to the educational sessions, the workshop provided information on local resources available for those in need of help, including crisis hotlines and support groups. The event also promoted the importance of community involvement and encouraged attendees to volunteer or contribute to local organizations dedicated to ending domestic violence.

The college campus has consistently demonstrated its commitment to addressing critical social issues through education and community engagement. This workshop on domestic violence exemplified the institution’s dedication to creating awareness, fostering empathy, and providing a platform for individuals to take action. The staff members who graced the occasion include Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof.S.S.Parihar,Dr Aijaz Ahmed wani,Prof Younas Rashid,Prof Suram and others.

The workshop concluded with the word of thanks by Prof. Qasim Mir, with a call to action, urging all participants to carry the knowledge and awareness gained into their communities, making a difference in the fight against domestic violence. By organizing events like this, Government Degree College (PG) Bhaderewah is playing a vital role in raising awareness and contributing to the efforts to eradicate domestic violence from our society.

In a world where domestic violence remains a pervasive issue, workshops like these provide hope for a brighter, safer future.
