Tragic Incident in Kupwara District Sparks Concerns Over Responsibility and Society’s Role : Nayla Mir

Karnah Kupwara :The tragic incident that occurred on Monday evening on the Karnah Gabrah road in the border area of Kupwara district, resulting in the loss of six precious lives, raises important questions about responsibility. It is imperative that someone takes responsibility for those who have become reckless, and this responsibility should extend to our journalism community, which has overlooked such matters. Moreover, the administration must play its part in enforcing safety measures, and ultimately, society as a whole shares the responsibility for preventing such incidents. It’s a wake-up call for every sensible person who acknowledges that things are going awry.

One distressing sight was that of a father teaching his 12-year-old son to drive a large vehicle like a Scorpio. When we witness young individuals behind the wheel on the streets, we must reflect on their age and speed. Accidents occur not solely due to driver negligence but also due to societal indifference, administrative shortcomings, and the silence of our journalism community. People may express their concerns for a brief period, but the challenge lies in educating those who fail to understand the gravity of such situations.

We strive to provide our children with comforts and everything they need, yet we often neglect the importance of proper training. It’s a matter of contemplation – let’s not lose ourselves to such negligence. The pain remains the same if you’re aware, doesn’t it?
