CRPF 84 Bn organises “Run for Unity” at Nathatop Ramban

RAMBAN, OCTOBER 31: To mark the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister of India, also known as Iron Man of India, the whole country is celebrating the National Unity Day “ Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” on 31st Oct 23.

In line with the celebrations across the country, 84 Bn CRPF organized a 5 KM “Run for Unity”, which was flagged off by N Ranbir Singh, Commandant 84 Bn CRPF, from near Patnitop to Nathatop. The event witnessed the participation of more than 100 Officers and personnel of 84 Bn, personnel of 61 RR, students of Govt Model High School Batote, Volunteers of the Patnitop area. Kuldeep Singh, Naib Sarpanch and other local civilians also attended the event. The run ended at Nathatop – a famous tourist destination in the Ramban District of J&K, situated at an altitude of 2,711 m above MSL and known for its breathtaking natural beauty of its surroundings, also known for the skiing, trekking and natural springs.

While speaking to the media h N Ranbir Singh, Commandant 84 Bn stated that India is a Country of Unity in diversity. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the then Home Minister was instrumental in integration of more than 600 princely states, to form the Union of India, in its current form. India is now emerging as a global superpower and the onus lies on the present generation to carry forward the legacy of vibrant, united and strong India. He also spoke about the glorious history of CRPF and its paramount contribution in nation building. He appealed to the students and other participants to work towards this noble cause.

A pledge of Unity was also taken by all the participants. Prizes were distributed to the first, second and third position runners. A brief cultural program with a patriotic theme was also organized at Nathatop in which the students and all participants took part. The event ended with a high tea at Nathatop.
