Srinagar,14/10/2023: An Industry Meet was conducted in the Govt. Polytechnic College for Women, Srinagar organized by Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region) (Northern Region), Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with Directorate of Skill Development J&K. A brainstorming session was conducted by the representatives of industries and other stake holders in order to bridge the gap between Industry Institute and students for their involvement in entrepreneurship Programs. 60 representatives from Central/State Govt./PSU/ Private establishments and 920 candidates participated in the event.
Mr. S.K Mehta, Director, Board of Apprenticeship & Training (BOAT) (NR) welcomed the guests, Faculty, Industrialists and other Stake Holders in the meeting, which is of its first kind in J&K UT. The Director BOAT (NR) emphasized about the entrepreneurship Scheme and its need in Institutions.
Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Director, Industries in his speech expressed his opinion about the scope of entrepreneurship programmes in Potentious Industries in Kashmir viz handicraft, Tourism and Horticulture, and said that there are new schemes which are coming up in future like Medicity, Hotel Sector, Wood Brands, IT Sector.
Mr Saurabh Bhagat (IAS), Commissioner Secretary, Skill Development, Department spoke on the occasion described the importance of Entrepreneurship Programme. He said new business sector like Disney Group Medical Industry and Retail group are also coming in future. He in his speech described that in a survey. It has been found that around 3.5 lacs educated youth are without employment. Our State is already a tourism leader industry and there is lot of scope for such sector. There is big role that BOAT can take part. The Commissioner Secretary, expressed his view regarding the scenario of J&K, that candidates here aspire for white collar jobs only. While as future technologies like IOT Robotics etc has scope that can be explored .There are also programmes like Nal Jal, Vishwa Karma Suriya Mitra Schemes wherein there are ample opportunities. He also expressed that our candidates should work in companies outside JK UT, so that they get exposure of working in Multinational companies. We need to add some Technology oriented courses to glorify our diploma/ITI Programmes. He also desired that a National level programme in this regard should also be conducted in future.
Mr. Sudershan Kumar (KAS), Director, Skill Development Department, J&K expressed thanks to Mr. SK Mehta, Director, BOAT (NR), Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Shah Director Industries, Faculty, representatives from industry and other stake holders for their participation in the event. The Director DSD also expressed the need for conduct of such Programs with Industries Department in collaboration with the Department of Skill Development for bridging the Gap and exploring the new ways for maximum participation of students in Apprenticeship Programs for benefit of students of JK(UT).
