Srinagar Shines Light on Mental Health Awareness During Week-Long Celebration

Srinagar, October 10, 2023 – K.V.No.1 Srinagar has marked Mental Health Awareness Week from October 4th to 10th, 2023, with a series of engaging and informative activities aimed at promoting mental well-being. The school organised a diverse range of events throughout the week, fostering dialogue and understanding around the critical theme of mental health.

The highlight of the week was the creative expression of students through activities such as poster-making, comic strip creation, and slogan writing, all under the able guidance of Mr. Rafi. These exercises not only showcased the artistic talents of the students but also allowed them to communicate powerful messages about mental health awareness.

In addition to the creative endeavours, K.V.No.1 Srinagar conducted group discussion sessions where students shared their insights and experiences related to mental health. These discussions encouraged open dialogue and the exchange of ideas, helping to reduce the stigma often associated with mental health issues.

Storytelling sessions were also a prominent feature of the week. Through the art of storytelling, students were able to convey personal stories and experiences, shedding light on the importance of empathy and support for those facing mental health challenges.

Furthermore, elocution sessions were held, providing a platform for students to articulate their views and raise awareness about mental health in a public speaking format. The eloquent speeches delivered by the participants were both thought-provoking and inspirational.

Mr. Maninder Anand, the PE Teacher, led sessions on various meditation techniques to cope with mental health challenges. His guidance provided students with practical tools for managing stress and maintaining mental well-being.

Ms. Jyoti Katna, the CCA Incharge, focused on nurturing a healthy mindset among students, emphasising the importance of positive thinking and self-care as integral components of mental health.

Adding a touch of creativity, Mr. Rishabh Pandey directed a captivating skit centered around the theme of mental health. The skit resonated with the audience, conveying powerful messages and showcasing the talent of the school’s drama enthusiasts.

In a heartwarming display of courage, students took the stage to share their impressions and experiences related to mental health. Their candid discussions helped break down barriers and encouraged empathy among their peers.

The school’s commitment to promoting mental health awareness reflects its dedication to the holistic development of its students. By addressing the significance of mental well-being, K.V.No.1 Srinagar is helping to create a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally.

Acting Principal, Mr. Thahiruddeen M, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of students and staff during Mental Health Awareness Week. He emphasised the importance of continuing such initiatives to foster a more supportive and understanding community.

K.V.No.1 Srinagar encourages other educational institutions and organisations to join in the vital cause of mental health awareness and support. Together, we can work towards a society where mental well-being is a priority.
