Pillion rider dies in Tangmarg road mishap

A female tourist pillion rider died after the two-wheeler in which she was traveling met with an accident in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Saturday evening.

Reports reaching that in a tragic incident near Marina Hotel Drung, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) bearing registration number JK05k/7802, driven by Adil Ahmad Lone, son of Gh Hassan a resident of Mayan.

The accident resulted in serious injuries to a pillion tourist identified as Anju Rakheja, wife of Pardeep Rakeeja from Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Anju Rakheja was immediately taken to SDH Tangmarg for initial treatment, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was subsequently shifted to SKIMS (Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences) for further medical care. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile an official also confirmed this road mishap to news agency Kashmir Scroll and said a case First Information Report (FIR) number 99/2023 has been registered.

He said police has arrested rider Adil Ahmad Lone also and started further investigation into this case. (KS)
