Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Anantnag, contraband substance recovered

`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Srigufwara during naka checking at Liver crossing intercepted a vehicle (Alto-800) bearing registration No. JK02CV-1042 with two persons on board. During checking of the said vehicle, about 15kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered. The accused persons have been identified as Mukthar Ahmad Bokad son of Mohmmad Rafiq resident of Jandrah Jammu and Ab. Satar Chechi son of Mohd Yousuf resident of Kunfar Ramban. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.“`
