Meanwhile, the accused employee, who is a Junior Assistant in Examination Wing of Jammu University, has been attached from his present place of posting in the Degree Section.

Sources said that the matter came to light when a manually prepared B Ed Degree was brought before Controller of Examination Sanjeev Mahajan for his perusal. In scrutiny, vigilant Controller detected that the candidate in whose favour the degree was being prepared, had not gotten through the examination and was in fact declared failed.

Taking serious cognizance of the matter, the Controller immediately ordered attachment of the accused employee, identified as Deepak Kumar, from his present place of posting and stoppage of his salary. Besides, the Controller also referred the matter to JU Establishment Committee for further action.

When contacted, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai said that he had given his approval to the Establishment Committee for internal probe into the matter for further necessary action. Though he ruled out handing over the case to Crime Branch, the VC said that Jammu University would fully cooperate the investigating agency if it takes suo-moto cognizance of the matter.
