WOMEN’S CYCLING RALLY : NOOR-E-RAFTAR

Srinagar, 01 Oct 2023. Noor-E-Raftar 2023, a Women’s Cycling Rally was flagged off from Shaukat Ali Stadium, Baramulla today. The third edition of this annual event was organised by Indian Army and was marked by enthusiastic participation by girls from Baramulla district. A total of 75 women cyclists undertook the cycling rally and cycled all the way from Baramulla to Kaman Aman Post, Uri covering a distance of 75 kms in the arduous terrain of Jammu & Kashmir.

The cycle rally culminated at Kaman Post and evoked exuberant response from the participants and locals alike. Senior military & civilian dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence. Five prizes were given in two age categories and the winner in Under 16 years category was Ms Sania Rashid while Ms Mehak Mustakh won in the category of age above 16 years.

The event symbolizes close integration of Indian Army with the locals and underlines its efforts towards women empowerment. The cyclists vowed to return again next year in bigger numbers, to further the deep bond forged with Kashmir & Indian Army.
