This initiative recently marked a significant milestone with the stocking of the first consignment of 5000 trout seed. This step forward is a crucial one in the journey towards strengthening the trout production in Suliman, Tangdar, Karnah, and ultimately, in the entire region.

Moreover, the increase in fish production is truly remarkable. The region has seen a 15-tonne surge in fish production, now totaling an impressive 35- tonnes. This boost is a testament to the collective efforts and initiatives in the fisheries sector. It not only bodes well for the local economy but also enhances the availability of food supply in the region.

Talking to Our Correspondent Assistant Director Sajad Hussain said These developments signal a bright future for the fisheries sector in Kupwara, promising both ecological and economic benefits. The conservation and expansion of trout populations, along with the significant increase in fish production, showcase the commitment of the Fisheries Department to sustainable practices and the overall development of the region.

It’s great to hear that three units with a production capacity of three tonnes each have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and HADP to create self-employment opportunities in the private sector. These initiatives can contribute significantly to economic development and job creation.
