August 31:As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative by Government of J&K, Police organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at various Police establishments in Baramulla and Kulgam districts.
In Baramulla, SSP Baramulla hosted the Thana Diwas at Boniyar where respectable citizens, members of PRIs, Auqaf committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federations and various market associations of Uri, Boniyar and Bijhama areas attended the public meeting.
On the occasion, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority.
During his address, SSP Baramulla assured resolution of problems on traffic violations viz, speedy and rash driving, holistic tackling of drugs problems and prevention of general crime. The participants expressed satisfaction on working of police and appreciated the action against drug peddlers.
In Kulgam, the meetings were held at Police Station Yaripora and Police Station DH Pora. Which was chaired by respective jurisdictional Police officers in which Sarpanchs, Panchs, respectable citizens, civil societies of concerned areas, including members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas participated.
During the meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasions, it was reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grassroot level and to hear and redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
The participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. The participants appreciated the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.“`
