NABARD), celebrated ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, in block Hajin of Bandipora district on Monday, commemorating 75 years of India’s progress after Independence.
The programme was organized in collaboration with Baramulla Central Cooperative Bank and was attended by bankers, representatives of PACS Hajin and FPO members. On the occasion, the participants were appraised about the importance of cooperative credit structure for the focused rural development and solving credit related issues of farmers and rural poor.
Speaking at the event, the Dr. Asif Bhat, DDM, NABARD highlighted the importance of strengthening the Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) to improve the livelihood of famers by brining investment in agriculture and rural sector. He further said that the All-India project on computerization of PACS will be a game changer to increase transparency and accountability in the working of PACS and diversify their business activities.
Zahoor Ahmad Andrabi, Chief Manager BCCB stressed upon the participants to take benefit of various credit linked subsidy schemes, social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) etc. for their economic empowerment. Later, interactions were held with the participants to appraise them about benefits of different developmental schemes of NABARD for boosting rural economy.
