Moreover, Jhelum Riverfront—the already completed project by Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL), is also being made wireless here.

Chief Engineer SSCL, Iftikhar Kakroo while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), informed that Rs 70 crore are being spent at multiple places to lay the underground wiring and make the areas wire free.

“We have already started work in this regard here in downtown areas as a substantial area of Shehr-e-Khaas is being made wire free,” Kakroo said.

He added that the work in this regard has already been started and three places have been completed so far, adding that the substantial area of Shehr-e-Khaas and Jhelum Riverfront will be made wire free by March next year (2024).

Pertinently, the exclusively pedestrian market—Polo View has become the first wire free place in J&K where all the wires have been laid underground.

Polo View market that usually remained busy with the vehicular movement and the rush of the pedestrians, especially the tourists, wore a new look as the works carried out by the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) have turned the road-stretch into an exclusively pedestrian and wire-free market in May this year—(KNO)
