Anti-ragging awareness week culminates at GDC Kathua

A week-long anti-ragging awareness programme organized by Government Degree College, Kathua culminated here today.

During the week-long awareness programme which started from 12thAugust, 2023, several activities were organised. On the inaugural day of the Programme, an anti -ragging awareness Campaign was organized in which more than fifty students participated enthusiastically.

Prof. Seema Mir (Principal GDC, Kathua) distributed anti-ragging pictorials among the students to be pasted at various places/ Departments in the College Campus.

A poster making competition was also organised on the second day of the celebration of Anti-Ragging week. The main highlight of the poster making competition was to educate the students about the harmful effects of ragging.

In the event, students very beautifully represented their ideas on canvas. Slogan writing and essay writing competitions were held on the third and fourth days of the anti-ragging week. A pledge taking ceremony was also organized by the committee besides a documentary film was also shown to the students to sensitize students about unethical practices.

On the concluding day of the week-long Anti Ragging awareness activities, a lecture was given by Principal Prof. Seema Mir where she elaborated the students about the ragging menace and advised students not to participate in any kind of ragging. She also quoted several examples of recent times where students lost their lives due to ragging. She encouraged them not to get engaged in any kind of ragging and motivated them to take steps to create a safe and ragging free environment in the college campus.

The Principal also appreciated the efforts of the Convenor and committee members for very effectively organizing the Anti- Ragging awareness week.

Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Convenor of Anti Ragging committee formally welcomed all the guests and presented a report of the week-long activities. She also emphasized on prevention and prohibition of ragging.

Certificates were distributed among the winners of various competitions held during the week and participation certificates were also given to the other participants.

Proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof. Neeru Sharma and Prof. Shaveta Saroop. The event was organized with the full support of Senior faculty members. Dr. Amita Dua presented the formal vote of thanks.

The Committee members comprising Dr. Rachna (Edu.), Dr. Amita Dua, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Roshan Lal, Prof. Surbhi Gupta (EVS), Dr. Rachna (Psy), Dr. Amrik Singh, Prof. Roma, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Poonam and Dr. Shaveta Saroop hosted the event.

Other faculty members present in the programme were Dr. Renu, Dr. Seema Devi, Dr. Shamsher, Dr. Kamini ,Dr.kamal Deep and Prof. Esha.
