Manufacture of Illicit Liquor’: Excise Department Conducted Raids in Budgam

Sleuth of Excise department of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday conducted raids at brick kilns of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.

They told that “Under the directions of Excise Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, Kashmir, Tazayun Mukhtar, raids were conducted at Brick Kilns of Nowbug, Chadoora, Budgam led by Excise and Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir, and accompanied by Range Inspectors of three districts and other field officials, after complaint of manufacture of illicit liquor in the area.

During raids 150 litres of Lahan, 2 litres of illicit liquor and 20 kgs of Gur were found in isolated areas, they said.

The consignment was destroyed instantly and temporary structures were frisked in the area for any more recoveries, Excise department officials said, adding that the shopkeepers and Brick kiln owners were warned to desist from procurement of Gur used for manufacturing of Lahan. (KDC)
