Independence Day 2023 was celebrated with full zeal and patriotic fervor in district Budgam at Sports Stadium Budgam today.
Shri Nazir Ahmad Khan DDC Chairman Budgam as Chief Guest hoisted the National flag & inspected the Parade.
DC Budgam Shri Akshay Labroo -IAS, Sh Tahir Gilani, SSP Budgam,ADDC Budgam Shri Akramullah TAK-JKAS, ADC Budgam Dr. Nasir Ahmed-JKAS, Programme officer ICDS Shri Sajjad ,CEO Budgam Smt. Romana Qazi, Addl.SP Budgam Shri Gowhar Ahmed-JKPS, officers from Army, CRPF, BSF, officers of PHE, PDD, I&FC, R&B Division Budgam and citizens from various parts of District were present on the occasion.
The Parade was commanded by SP.Dr.Ajaz Malik-JKPS in which contingents of CRPF , JKP , IRP, JKAP, JKHG , BHSS Budgam(NCC).School Contingents of BHSS(NCC), GHS Ichigam, GHS Budgam , and band troop of Kashmir valley Budgam presented the march past.
Chief Guest in his address congratulated the participants for celebrating Independence Day-23 with gaiety and fervour, he highlighted the development works carried out by Govt in the Distt during the year. He appreciated and thanked people for making “Mere Maati, Mere Desh “ campaign successful and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Police and CAPF who sacrificed their lives for the Nation.
In his address , he said that the District Administration Budgam’s target is to complete more than 8800 different types of development work this year in an attempt to give a major push to development in Budgam. Under the road repair, widening and macadamization program, 368 km of connecting roads are being macadamized in the district this year. 30 new schemes were approved under PMJSY.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, an effort has been taken to provide clean drinking water to every rural house by the end of this year. For this, projects worth Rs 874 crore are being implemented. Under this scheme in Budgam, work is in progress on 163 water supply schemes which will be completed by the end of this year.
To further improve the power system, four 10 MVA receiving stations have been constructed this year.
To promote public health, 4 primary health centers were completed in the district this year at a cost of 8.19 crores and four more schemes are targeted to be completed very soon. There, 100% target has been completed in connection with the issuance of golden cards.
Under the PM Kisan Scheme, an amount of Rs 210.01 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of around 94469 farmers so far.
He said, 56020 children are being provided free mid-day meal under the mid-day meal scheme in the education department. Along with this, textbooks have been provided to 45701 thousand children and 8081 children have been enrolled in government schools which is an increase of 9%. Social welfare 182 tricycles were also distributed to specially abler people under various assistance schemes. 204 self-help groups are being established under the NRLM scheme in the district this year, out of which 88 groups have been established so far.
On the Occasion,Various colourful cultural programs like Rouf, Ladishah, patriotic songs, Bangda, Gazal’s, skits etc. were also presented.
A large number of people witnessed the function during the celebration of the Independence Day-23
The prizes and appreciation certificates from Police and Civil administration were also given to the best performing contingents and other civil/police employees for their commendable and meritorious public service.
