ANANTNAG, AUGUST 10: A seminar on the ‘Menace of Drug Abuse’ was today organized by Gulistan News Network at Government Degree College (GDC) for Women Anantnag.

Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, Chairman of Wakf Board, was the chief guest while DIG of Police, Rayees Mohammad Bhat was the guest of honor.

During the programme, speakers stressed on Drug abuse, its ill effects and treatment. They urged the participants to fight against social evils as it is our collective responsibility to put an end to the drug menace.

The students were asked not to indulge in drug abuse and other social evils and instead be role models in the field of education, sports and other activities. They were also made aware about the causes, consequences and treatment and the role of rehabilitation centres where treatment is done through various therapeutic interventions.

Speakers said that drug addiction is increasing among the new generation due to which society is facing complex health problems. They said that the student community is vulnerable to the menace and as such an awareness session is being organized in this regard in all the educational institutions.

The Programme was attended by prominent figures including Chairman MCA Hilal Ahmed Shah; Principal GDC Women, Dr. Irfana Majid; members of Mattan Welfare Forum and Shahbad Development Forum, media persons, Gulistan News Network management, school children, students of GDC women Anantnag and officials from various departments.
