Cooperative Department organizes Mega Awareness Camp at Baramulla

Dr Sehrish presides over the function; calls for realizing PM’s vision of reviving Cooperatives as Vibrant Economic Entities

With an aim to strengthen the cooperative movement and deepening its reach to the grassroots level in Baramulla district, Cooperative Department Baramulla in convergence with allied departments today organized a day long Mega Awareness Camp within the premises of Central Cooperative Bank Ltd. Baramulla.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the function as the chief guest, while as Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf was the guest of honor.

The day-long awareness camp was also attended by General Manager DIC, Chief Agriculture Officer, functionaries of concerned departments, besides hundreds of stakeholders.

At the outset, the DC in presence of all officers inspected stalls set up by various departments including Cooperative Societies for awareness of the general public about various schemes.

After inspection of stalls, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Baramulla, Mohammad Arif Shah highlighted the objective of organizing an awareness camp besides deliberating on the achievements of the cooperative sector in Baramulla district.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Sehrish said that the main motive behind this awareness camp is to aware the general public regarding the Cooperative movement and its role in providing employment and other benefits in socio-economic development particularly to the weaker sections of the society.

On the occasion, the DC stressed upon the stakeholders to take advantage of the schemes of the Cooperative Department. She said that Cooperative is a movement having tremendous scope to revolutionize the economy of the societies adding that at the time when government jobs are not easily available for youth, it is high time that Cooperative societies could be encouraged to yield better results for maximum number of interested youth.

Elaborating further, the DC said that Baramulla district has a great potential for development of dairy/ sheep farms, handicrafts and tourism and urged upon the youth to venture in these sectors.

Moreover, Dr Sehrish called for realizing the PM’s vision of reviving Cooperatives as Vibrant Economic Entities.

Meanwhile, the subject matter specialists and experts from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, DIC and KVIB gave detailed awareness of schemes and welfare programmes of their concerned departments to the participants.
