A meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb at Meeting Hall of Mini-Secretariat Shopian.

At the outset, the DC highlighted the importance of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign and said that it aims to foster a sense of unity and pride across all sections of society, celebrating India’s rich heritage and patriotic spirit.

He expressed that celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the hallmark event on Independence Day, 2023 will be paying tribute to the ‘Veers’ (martyrs) through ceremonies at all levels across the district.

He instructed that under the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme, memorial plaques would be placed at Amrit Sarovars, panchayat Ghars, parks and other public places in the memory of Martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives for the National cause.

The DC also directed for ensuring hoisting of the National Flag at all Government Offices in the district. He also directed SDM Zainapora for the same at Zainapora Shopian,

Assistant Commissioner Development and ARTO shall monitor implementation of the campaign and installation of hoardings and banners, at Panchayats, Fair Price shops, and vehicles in the district.

A detailed outline of the events to be held in the district was given out through PowerPoint presentation wherein programmes will be held at each Panchayat and Blocks, colleges and schools under the theme “Meri Maati Mera Desh” and stakeholders involved have been asked to make all the necessary preparations well in advance for the successful conduct of the campaign.

The DFO territorial (concerned), DFO Social Forestry (Concerned), and BDOs were asked to ensure that the saplings are planted within well protected locations in panchayats, educational institutions and other places in light of Vasudha Vandan campaign.

The campaign will witness the felicitation of families, besides holding Painting, Essay Writing, Drawing, Photography and Videography competitions in all the educational institutes on the theme.

The meeting was attended by various district, sectoral officers, tehsil and block level officers.
