Colourful Closing Ceremony of Inter Unit Badminton Tournament: Units SXR and 61 Clinch Championship Titles

The three-day-long Inter Unit Badminton Tournament organized by 117 Battalion, CRPF reached its grand conclusion with a vibrant and spirited closing ceremony. The event witnessed intense competition, exemplary sportsmanship, and a strong display of camaraderie among the participants. Group Centre, Srinagar and 61 Battalion, CRPF emerged as champions in the singles and doubles categories, respectively, while 73 and 29 Battalions secured the runners-up positions.
The esteemed Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Sh. Mathew A. John, DIG, South Srinagar Range who graced the occasion with his presence and presented the coveted trophies to the triumphant teams. Addressing the players, Sh. John expressed his admiration for the high standard of the game displayed throughout the tournament. He commended 117 Battalion for organizing the event in a befitting manner, providing an excellent platform for men and officers to showcase their sporting talents and forge strong bonds.
The colorful closing ceremony featured a fantastic display of marching contingents, leaving the spectators in awe. Sh. Rajat Jain, Commandant, 25 Battalion, Sh. R. K. Baruah, Commandant 132 Battalion and officers from other units of Srinagar Sector attended the final matches and enthusiastically encouraged the players, fostering a sense of unity and mutual support among the troopers.
The players selected from this tournament will represent their units at the sector level competitions. These talented players will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against players from other sectors, further promoting healthy competition and raising the bar of sports excellence within CRPF as well as All India Police Games.
In a heartfelt gesture, Sh. Biplab Sarkar, the Commanding Officer of 117 Battalion felicitated Sh. Mathew A. John, DIG for his gracious presence as the Chief Guest and also extended appreciation to the manager of the sports complex for his support in making available the top-notch indoor sports facility for the tournament. The success of the event would not have been possible without the wholehearted support of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council. Sh. Biplab Sarkar, in his vote of thanks extended his heartfelt thanks to the Ms. Nishat Gul, secretary, J&K Sports council for providing the sports complex for the tournament.
The Inter Unit Badminton Tournament has not only showcased the athletic prowess of the CRPF personnel but has also strengthened the sense of unity and camaraderie within this diverse force. It serves as a shining example of the force’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among its members.
