Kupwara 26 July 2023: Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated with much enthusiasm at Gulgam Kupwara with an aim to pay tribute to the martyrs and also remember the heroes of the nation who laid down their lives defending the pride of the Nation.

On the occasion of Kargil Viiay Diwas a number of events were conducted by Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers to Commemorate the Martyrs of Kargil War. In this regard a Tiranga rally was conducted by the Students and locals of Gulgam village which started from Batak Mohalla Gulgam and ended at AGS Wayne Kupwara. In this rally about 200 students from different schools as well as locals from Kupwara have participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. Besides this an online Essay competition based on Kargil Vijay Diwas as theme was conducted by Indian Army in which 35 students including boys and girls from 15 different schools have participated. Mainoona Manzoor from Kachama Kupwara secured 1st position in this competition. While Shafiya Shafkat from GDC, Women Kupwara has got 2nd position. In addition to this a flag hosting was conducted by the NCC students of Army Goodwill School Wayne Kupwara. A painting competition was also conducted at AGS Wayne to remember the Martyrdom and celebrate the victory of our Soldiers during Kargil War. In this competition Maurif Ashrif of AGS Wayne scored 1st position, Fazil got 2nd where as Ishrat Ashrat stood at 3rd position. All the position holders were felicitated by the Officer from Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers along with Principal AGS Wayne.

The event was attended by about 200 students and 50 locals from Gulgam along with AGS staff and officials from Indian Army.

The complete event received an overwhelming response and appreciation from the locals and public representatives.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of victory, bravery, and glory for the Indian Army. India victoriously took back the higher reaches of northern borders from Pakistan, which was occupied by Pakistani intruders.
