Handloom, Handicrafts department Doda organises awareness camp at village Mallan

Handloom & Handicrafts Department, Doda organized a two day skill development awareness camp at Mallan area of Dessa.

A team of Handloom and Handicraft Department comprising Abid Wani, Ishfaq Hussain, Lakhvir Rana & Nishat Katoch, AHTOs acquainted the participants about different Up-skilling, marketing and handholding schemes for artisans and weavers to promote the local crafts in country & at international level.

People were asked to take up weaving and handmade products as a profession and avail the benefits of the departmental schemes to start-up their own units. They were asked to avail the benefits of the schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra scheme, Credit Card scheme with 7% interest subsidy and skill development training in different trades meant for the unemployed youth with payment of stipend @ of Rs1000 and 1500 per month for elementary and advanced courses respectively etc run by the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu.

The remote area of Dessa witnessed an overwhelming response of the local artisans and they agreed to go for registration of three cooperatives in different trades.
