Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu addresses faculty members

Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology -Jammu, Dr. B. N. Tripathi today addressed all the faculty members, scientists of different faculties stationed at Chatha and R. S. Pura Campus of the University.

This was his first interaction with all the faculty members after assuming the charge as Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu.

The purpose of the address was to share his opinion and road map for the development of the University to enhance its presence at national and International level.

The Vice Chancellor said that it was an immense pride for him to address the faculty of this premium institution of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and he was feeling excited and enthusiastic.

The SKUAST-Jammu is in its initial phase of development “But I am happy to see that in a short span of time it has achieved new heights and that has been possible only due to the tremendous work done by the faculty/ scientists of the university.” He further added that National Education Policy is the key to enhancing the quality education and we are committed to increase ten per cent students every year under NEP. He said “We at SKUAST-Jammu should be passionate in supporting the learning goals of the students.”

He emphasised the need to continuously explore ways to improve the quality of education, equipping students with the necessary skills for their future endeavours.

He stressed the importance of keeping pace with advancements and nurturing innovative thinking among students.

“We understand the concerns of our students and assure all of you that efforts will be made to reach out to every student to help him/her to cope with the difficult circumstances,” he said. The systems and its relevant solutions shall be designed keeping in mind the concept of optimization and its implementation on a day to day basis. Imparting education through quality learning is my absolute priority. Hence to ensure this, we should continuously evolve our processes through consultation and communication with respective stakeholders to address the issues and concerns timely. We must learn to capitalize on our available resources, which will help us to face the challenges more efficiently.

He advised teachers to encourage students to explore entrepreneurship and thereby highlight the need for students to be self-reliant and not solely depend on government jobs. He emphasized the importance of enhancing their skills and leveraging entrepreneurial opportunities to contribute to the growth of the region.

The Vice Chancellor stressed on linkages with industries under Corporate Social Responsibility which will not only enhance research and development efforts but also open paths for students to learn and develop new and innovative skills. He was also of the opinion to have strong linkage with other universities of the region for quality teaching and research. He emphasized the need to enhance resources and equip laboratories with modern machines to meet the growing demands of the evolving educational landscape. He urged faculty members to seek the opportunities available and work collaboratively to achieve the institution’s vision.

The Vice Chancellor said that his vision is to take the SKUAST-Jammu to its rightful place as the leading university in the world. The overall goals of universities are to generate knowledge, disseminate information universally and provide community service through teaching, research and extension. Prof. Tripathi further added that he has a strong belief in research as a distinguishing feature because a university that promotes research and publication will definitely achieve new heights. In the end, he said that we will live up to our responsibility of moulding and processing young minds for the future as well as generating knowledge which forms the basis of development.

The Vice Chancellor said that the Challenges are Enormous But I am convinced that collective support, wisdom and unity would bring about the desired change we need.

At the outset, Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar cum Dean, FoH&F, SKUAST-Jammu welcomed the Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and also read the curriculum vitae of the Vice Chancellor.
