SHOPIAN, MAY 31: In order to listen to developmental and welfare issues, and redress the grievances of people at their doorsteps, the District Administration Shopian today held a weekly Block Diwas programme at Gagren, Shopian.  The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Yar Ali Khan presided over the outreach programme.  The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of people from various spheres of life belonging to areas including Devpora, Saidpora, Reshinagri, etc.  During the programme, various issues of developmental and welfare nature were put forth by PRI members, public representatives and people for redressal.  Issues of public importance including renovation of water bodies, macadamisation/ construction of roads, better provision of electricity and water supply and various other issues were put across by people for resolution.  ADC gave a patient hearing to demands raised by people and directed the concerned officers to ensure prompt and speedy redressal of issues and demands of people.  Officers present on the spot also responded to various queries and issues raised by the people.  While interacting with the people, the ADC sought feedback from people on various issues especially sanction of Animal/ Sheep husbandry units and provision of farm machinery/ equipment from agriculture/ horticulture.  He also sought feedback from people on the functioning of AWCs, pension schemes and other welfare and agro-based, employment generation schemes.  Various officers on the occasion sensitised people on benefits, eligibility criteria of different schemes available with them and asked people to avail benefits under different schemes especially pension, Insurance schemes and employment generation schemes including  bee- keeping, mushroom, dairying, sheep, employment department schemes etc.  The ADC sought replies from officers and representatives of the line department on queries and grievances flagged off by the people and assured people that all the demands shall be taken up as per norms.  Among others, the programme was attended by district officers including CHO, CAHO, DIO, DSWO, BDO and representatives of line departments.
